Frothy Chocolate Collagen Almond Milk

I’ve been so excited about sharing this Chocolate Collagen Almond Mylk for a while now because I have it almost every day! I’m addicted to it. I love it because not only is it gut healing thanks to the marine collagen but it’s also free from refined sugar, sweeteners and fruit.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN AND WHY IS IT GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH?

Well in simple terms, collagen is the richest protein in our bodies. It’s in our bones, our muscles, skin, digestive tract and cardiovascular system. Without collagen, our skin would be saggy and our bones like emmental cheese! As we age it depletes, it’s also one of the key supplements I take to help heal leaky gut and put my autoimmune condition in remission.

I use sachets from Crushed Tonic (the Turmeric one – it’s fruit free) as it also contains biotin and heat stable probiotics but for those of you who only have plain collagen to hand i’ve also given my other favourite Frothy Chocolate Collagen Almond Milk recipe, with the option to sweeten it if you like.

Of course, you can add whatever sweeteners you like but if you’re really trying to cut down and heal your gut like me, this should satisfy your chocolate cravings and you’ll totally get used to the lack of sweetness once your palate adjusts.

Frothy Chocolate Collagen Almond Milk

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 ml almond milk (I like Plenish Almond Milk)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter or nut butter of choice (optional)
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 3 - 4 tbsp marine collagen powder (2 heaped scoops)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder or sugar free vanilla extract
  • Pinch of flaked sea salt
  • maple or low carb sweetener to taste (optional)

OPTION 2 - CRUSHED TONIC SACHET

  • 350 ml almond milk (I like Plenish Almond Milk)
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 turmeric Crushed Tonic collagen sachet
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder or sugar free vanilla extract
  • maple or low carb sweetener to taste (optional)
  • pinch of flaked sea salt

Method

  • Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender like a vitamix or place in a glass jug with high sides and use a hand blender (ideally with a cup end as this makes it thick and frothy). Blitz until smooth.
