Move over chocolate milk there’s a new smoothie in town and she’s causing all sorts of shake ups! Who else just wants to sip the top off this chocolate greens smoothie right now? Such a tease!
A chocolate shake with the extra goodness of greens… yes please! This chocolate greens smoothie is so delicious that you wouldn’t even know it was made purely from vegetables. For those watching their sugar intake, this one is one for you. Whilst fruit is better for you than refind sugar, it’s still sugar after all, so often I prefer to head for veggies. Did you know you can sweeten naturally with vegetables instead of fruit? I like to use carrots and beetroots as these offer the most sweetness.
This chocolate greens smoothie is sweetened with carrots and bizarrely tastes like chocolate orange! So creamy and delicious.
It’s a really easy way to pack in more green vegetables to your diet, because lets face it munching through a whole bag of raw spinach can be hard work… unless it’s dressed in an amazing olive oil dressing of course … or you’re a rabbit!
Love this chocolate greens smoothie as a great way to start the day, and as a post work out treat. Add some nut milk for extra recovery.
- 570g of carrots
- 3 celery sticks
- 1/3 of a cucumber
- 20 mint leaves
- 65g of kale (2 stems)
- 200ml of almond milk
- 3/4 of an avocado
- Juice of 3/4 of a lime
- 2.5 – 3 tablespoons of raw cacao
Juice the carrots, celery and cucumber. Add the mint, kale, almond milk, avocado, lime, cacao and juiced vegetables to a Vitamix, Nutribullet or equivalent. Blitz until smooth.
I used vegetables and almond milk cold from the fridge so it was nice and chilled but feel free to add 1 or 2 ice cubes and then blitz so it’s nice and chilled.
