Winter calls for snuggly jumpers, hearty soups and cosy hot chocolates. These hot chocolate melts are the perfect dunking buddy to go with your hot chocolate. Made from cocoa butter, antioxidant boosting raw cacao and creamy coconut oil, they’re healthy chocolate at it’s best.
I added a few dollops of delicious nut butter to give them a luxurious, creamy taste. Sweeten to your liking using a little raw honey, or for a totally sugar free option, leave 100% dark.
Makes 12 hot chocolate melts
Ingredients
- 80g cacao butter
- 35g cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon of honey (or to taste)
- 2 teaspoons of smooth almond butter
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- Tiny pinch of salt (but only if the almond butter is without salt)
Method
Fill a saucepan with an inch of boiling water. Add the cacao butter to a heat proof bowl and place into the pan. On a low heat, stir the cacao butter until fully melted.
Sieve the raw cacao powder and stir into the cacao butter until combined. Stir in the melted coconut oil, almond butter and the optional honey and salt to taste. Check it’s to your desired sweetness.
Pour the mix into silicone chocolate moulds or ice trays. Place in the freezer for about 13 – 15 minutes to almost set. Whilst still slightly soft, but firm enough for the stick to stand up, add a wooded ice cream spoon or short lollipop stick. Place back in the freezer for a further 10 minutes to fully set.
Make yourself a lovely hot chocolate and dunk away. Please note, they won’t dissolve, they’re more for dunking and biting!
